Director of Information Technology – Hull Public Schools & Town of Hull Start date: Immediately Position type: Full-time Salary: $110,000 per year (commensurate with experience) Job Summary Serves as the strategic leader for the town’s business and the school district’s educational and administrative technology operations. The role includes architecting, implementing, and managing a secure, robust digital platform that supports staff, enhances student learning, and optimizes district-wide operations. Key Responsibilities Develop short‑range and long‑range technology plans ensuring alignment with town and district goals; recommend systems, hardware and software purchases, budgets, and staffing. Create and enforce policies on digital citizenship, acceptable use, cybersecurity, and data privacy (CIPA, FERPA, CJIS); implement and monitor information systems controls. Negotiate and manage vendor contracts for consulting, technical personnel, and technology products. Oversee design, installation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, servers, wireless, and overall network infrastructure. Implement and monitor data security protocols, firewalls, disaster‑recovery plans, and contingency backup procedures. Manage the lifecycle of staff/student devices, including deployment, repair, replacement, and capacity planning. Administer the Financial Management System, ensuring availability, security, and workflow support for all users. Coordinate special projects, network scheduling, backup, storage, and retrieval functions; track physical inventory and manage ticketing/help desk services. Maintain user accounts, coordinate technology roll‑outs, oversee software implementation, and review equipment production, maintenance, and cost reports. Define and test disaster‑recovery plans; coordinate technology needs for televised meetings and public safety systems. Collaborate with the curriculum director to integrate instructional technology; design and deliver professional development programs for educators and staff. Manage Student Information Systems (SIS) and ensure smooth operation of digital platforms for standardized testing. Prepare and manage the annual technology budget, conduct grant research, and write grant proposals for supplemental funding. Recruit, train, and supervise in‑house and contracted IT staff, including network administrators, data analysts, and support technicians. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology or equivalent (Master’s preferred). Professional experience in a technology leadership role, preferably in K‑12 education or municipal government. Administrative and technical experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Windows 2016+, VMWare ESXi, enterprise networking, and cybersecurity posture. Experience in policy development, budgeting, and grant identification & writing. Deep understanding of data privacy laws, instructional technology trends, and modern AI tools in education and municipality.
