Heavy Equipment Mechanic w/CDL (SUPERVISOR) Job Category: Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Requisition Number: HEAVY001208 Posted: March 11, 2026 | Full-Time Location Barstow, CA 92311, USA Description Diagnoses, repairs, overhauls, and maintains heavy construction and tactical equipment including cranes, bulldozers, graders, conveyors, compressors, pumps, and similar power-driven equipment in accordance with technical manuals, shop work instructions, and Army maintenance standards. Operates, inspects, and tests equipment to identify malfunctions; dismantles and reassembles mechanical systems using appropriate tools, diagnostic equipment, hoists, and precision measurement instruments such as micrometers and gauges. Replaces or repairs defective components and assemblies including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and structural components; performs welding and fabrication repairs as required to restore operational capability. Conducts functional testing and operational checks on repaired or overhauled equipment to ensure proper performance and compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Serves as the on-site Location Supervisor, directing daily work activities of contractor mechanics and support personnel, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract requirements. Coordinates with Government supervisors, maintenance managers, and the Contractor Project Manager to support maintenance schedules, equipment readiness, training support missions, and logistics operations. Operates and transports heavy equipment or vehicles requiring a Class-A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) in support of maintenance operations, equipment movement, and mission requirements. Maintains documentation and ensures compliance with Army regulations, safety requirements, environmental policies, and the contractor Quality Control and Safety Plans while supporting operational readiness objectives. Qualifications Education: High School or better. Experience – Leadership/ Supervision: Minimum five (5) years of leadership or supervisory experience directing maintenance personnel or shop operations. Experience – Maintenance: Minimum five (5) years of experience performing heavy equipment or military vehicle maintenance, repair, and diagnostics. Working knowledge of safety standards, OSHA requirements, and Army safety regulations related to equipment maintenance and shop operations. Ability to diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system issues and perform repairs using standard and specialized diagnostic equipment.
