Mechanical Assembler

Summary Perform bench-type processes to complete mechanical and electrical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools, and electronic and pneumatic tooling. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assemble and test according to blueprints, diagrams and specifications using hand tools, power tools, precision instruments and test equipment Read blueprints and technical orders to determine methods and sequence of assembly operations Examine parts for surface defects and report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor Align, fit and assemble component parts into completed units using hand tools, power tools, fixtures and templates Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to blueprint specifications using precision instruments such as calipers, etc. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations Complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shift from one station to another during the assembly processes Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Minimum High School diploma or general education degree (GED) Minimum of 6 months hands‑on assembly experience Experienced and familiar with electro‑mechanical assembly processes and associated tools/instruments Must have experience reading assembly drawings/diagrams and completing work to specifications Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
