If you're looking for a place where your contributions matter and your professional development is supported every step of the way, we'd love to meet you.The Business Intelligence Specialist works closely with Project Managers, Engineering Leads, and Project Controls to develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPI tools using Deltek VantagePoint, Power BI, and Excel. This role monitors planned vs. actuals to ensure best utilization, revenue, and ROI; mines data to reveal trends and limit non-billable time; and delivers value-added analytics that support data-driven decision-making across the organization.What You'll Do:Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and KPI tools using Power BI, Excel, and Deltek VantagePointApply effective data visualization best practices to represent complex data in accessible, actionable formats for both technical and non-technical audiencesCollaborate with PMs, Engineering Leads, and Accounting to implement standard reporting; support ad-hoc requests with accurate, timely outputs in clear visual formatsAssist with ETL processes and support integration between BI tools and source systems including Deltek VantagePoint and financial platformsValidate and maintain accuracy of data used in dashboards and reports; identify and resolve quality issues before they impact deliverablesMine data to reveal project and business trends that increase profits, reduce non-billable time, and drive continuous improvement; deliver value-added analytics on business performanceGenerate KPI reports and trend analyses for cost tracking, schedule variance, utilization, and operational performance; escalate discrepancies with clear documentationDemonstrate proficient working knowledge of Power BI including dashboard development, DAX measures, and data model relationshipsUse Microsoft Excel at an advanced level (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, nested logic) and write simple to intermediate SQL queries against relational databasesNavigate and extract data from Deltek VantagePoint for project cost, schedule, and resource reportingSupport project managers and engineering leads with cost tracking, schedule variance, and planned vs. actuals monitoring to ensure best utilization, revenue, and ROITrack KPIs relevant to engineering and project delivery; develop working knowledge of electric utility services operations and project lifecycle phasesCollaborate with project managers, engineering teams, accounting, and project controls to gather requirements, validate outputs, and ensure BI deliverables meet business needsPresent findings, dashboards, and analytical results in clear visual formats for non-technical audiencesAssist users in interpreting dashboards and BI tools; participate in stakeholder meetings and design sessions; drive outcomes across cross-functional teamsWhat You Bring:Minimum Requirements:Education: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems OR a Power BI certification or equivalentExperience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience providing actionable analysis and/or business intelligence for organizationsPreferred Skills:Proficient in Power BI or similar data visualization tools (Tableau, SAS, MicroStrategy); Power BI certification or equivalent preferred; SQL experience a strong plusAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and nested logic; Deltek VantagePoint experience preferredStrong understanding of relational database structures; ability to analyze data and recommend solutions to reduce waste and improve efficiencyStrong work ethic and ability to work autonomously; proven ability to collaborate and drive outcomes across teams spanning disciplines and locationsStrong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, organized insights for audiences at all levelsAmpirical is an Equal Opportunity Employer, meaning we do not discriminate based on the following characteristics in our hiring and employment practices: Age, sex, color, race, creed, national origin, religion or religious attire, marital status, pregnancy (child birth or related medical conditions), citizenship status or amnesty, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, transgender status, physical or mental disability, military or veteran status, genetic information, sickle-cell trait, status as a tobacco user or non-user, or any other classification protected by federal, state, or local law.
