Sales Consultant

La-Z-Boy Incorporated is seeking a Sales Consultant who will create customers for life by executing the selling process every time, embracing all sales training and coaching to become a high performer on a team that meets or exceeds all company goals. The position requires a dynamic and customer-focused individual with a passion for furniture and interior design. Responsibilities include assisting customers in selecting furniture pieces, providing product information, guiding them through the sales process, making recommendations, building relationships, and contributing to the overall success of the sales team. Starting Rate: $18.00/hr. Key Responsibilities Assist in meeting or exceeding daily and monthly store goal by team selling. Execute the Comfort Compass process with every customer. Consistently assist consumers every day by team selling. Execute drive‑bys, crash the party, and third‑party endorsements with your fellow sales team. Assist, encourage sketching, and handle fabric/leather/TLA selections with consumers. Encourage in‑home design consultations. Help overcome objections that lead to the consumer making a buying decision. Accept appropriate intervention from Sales Manager, Sales Lead, District Sales Manager, Director of Design, or President of Sales to support team selling culture. Review daily goal analysis and know today’s sales goal. Ensure comfort guides are filled out, including a sketch of the consumer’s room. Enter all prospect information daily into the CRM (Door Counts / Trackwell). Complete weekly training topics via weekend training with your sales team or self‑study. Maintain accurate notes in the CRM and update action items. Approach every customer with a Comfort Guide and complete it on a minimum of 50% of clients with at least five unique items about the room they are shopping for. Follow up with non‑purchasing customers within two days of their visit. Make prompt after‑delivery calls and record notes in the Comfort Guide and CRM. Send a handwritten thank‑you card to all non‑buying customers within two days of their visit. Enter lead capture information into Door Counts / Trackwell daily. Be an expert in every upholstery category, TLA and case good category, fabric, leather, furniture romance terms, the selling process, IHD process steps, price list information, LZB upholstery product catalogs, and bedroom/dining room catalogs. Understand and follow all company policies and procedures. Arrive at least ten minutes early to prepare for work. Clock in upon arrival and clock out at the end of shift, including meal breaks. Attend and participate in all company training, staff meetings, and sales rally meetings when schedule allows. Complete all sales paperwork and customer service issues accurately and timely. Respond to questions regarding sales and return policy, La‑Z‑Boy warranty and direct customers to appropriate departments. Ensure open sales have proper deposits and documentation. Schedule pickups and deliveries in compliance with procedures. Use company systems to answer questions about sales balances and inventory availability. Always update customer accounts with notes in RMS Sales/Delivery notes. Ensure company assets, daily receipts, and cash are secure. Follow all safety and security rules. Minimum Requirements Approachable and friendly style toward internal & external customers. Excellent strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal, customer service, and people skills. Exceptional sales and design experience. Ability to promote enthusiasm within the sales team. Excellent closing techniques. Functional knowledge of the products that La‑Z‑Boy sells. High degree of professional excellence characterized by sound independent judgment, initiative, and high standards of ethics. Ability to deliver excellent customer service externally and internally. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a retail environment. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience is preferred. Physical Demands / Work Environment Frequent computer use and desk work with the ability to sit or stand for extended periods and infrequent ability to bend, squat, and kneel. Ability to move around the office to collaborate with different departments, attend meetings, and address employee needs. Proficient manual dexterity and vision for tasks such as typing, handling paperwork, and operating office equipment.
