Location: Houma, LA


Duration: 3+ Months


Shift: Night Shift, 12 Hours


Schedule: 36 Hours per Week


Shifts: 3 Nights per Week

Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to provide critical care services for patients with complex and life-threatening conditions. The ICU RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care, performing continuous patient assessments, monitoring advanced life-support therapies, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience, excellent clinical judgment, and proficiency with EPIC documentation.


Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive critical care nursing services utilizing the nursing process and evidence-based practices.
• Perform ongoing patient assessments and monitor complex medical conditions in an ICU environment.
• Administer medications, treatments, and advanced nursing interventions as prescribed.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, ventilators, hemodynamic status, and other critical care equipment.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond rapidly to emergencies.
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and recovery expectations.
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
• Delegate responsibilities appropriately and support nursing and ancillary staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC electronic medical records.
• Promote patient safety, quality improvement, and professional nursing excellence.
• Adapt communication and care delivery to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.


Education:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.


Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required.
• Recent ICU/Critical Care experience required.
• Experience with EPIC documentation required.


Licensure & Certifications:
• Active RN license in the state of practice.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current PALS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Current CPI certification (12-month blue card).
• Critical Care or specialty certification preferred.


Skills & Qualifications:
• Strong critical-thinking and clinical assessment skills.
• Experience managing critically ill patients in an ICU setting.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records and healthcare software applications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to make rapid, sound clinical decisions in high-acuity situations.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.


Work Environment:
• High-acuity ICU/Critical Care environment requiring continuous patient monitoring.
• Routine exposure to blood, bodily fluids, tissues, and communicable diseases.
• Potential exposure to hazardous medications and healthcare-related waste.
• Ability to perform heavy physical work, including lifting, repositioning, and assisting critically ill patients as needed.


Preferred Candidate Profile:
• Experienced ICU/Critical Care RN with strong ventilator, cardiac monitoring, and critical care management skills.
• Proficient with EPIC charting and critical care documentation.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and CPI certifications.
• Team-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
