Field Specialist in Agronomy - Hickory County, MO

Overview MU Extension Field Specialist in Agronomy. This is a 12-month, ranked, non-tenure track appointment at the rank of assistant, associate, or full Extension Professional. Working title: Field Specialist In Agronomy. Location: Hermitage, Missouri, serving Hickory, Camden, Dallas, Laclede, and Polk Counties in the West Central Region with statewide service as needed. Rank determined at appointment based on qualifications and experience per MU Extension faculty standards. Workload: 90% Extension Teaching, 10% Traditional Service. Appointment is renewable annually at the discretion of the University; workload distribution may change at the discretion of Extension leadership. Specialist emphasis is agronomy (cropping systems, forages, soils, weeds, insects, pathogens). Responsibilities include planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs such as soil testing, precision agriculture, crop and hay production, pest monitoring, grazing systems, pesticide application, weed management, and disease management. Interaction with farmers and stakeholder groups, industry representatives, university colleagues, and officials is expected. Leadership and reporting lines: Senior Program Director for Agriculture & Environment provides programmatic leadership; Education Director for Plant Health & Technology oversees program area; Regional Director for the West Central region provides administrative oversight. Affiliations: Works with county extension councils, partners, and University system-wide programs to expand educational impact and community engagement.
