Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:00 - 06:30) Experience: Minimum 18 months License: Must have permanent license in hand prior to start date Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Solid Neuro experience is required. Experience with managing mixed acuity patients is essential. Prior experience in a medical-surgical or progressive care unit is preferred. Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a mixed acuity unit. The unit cares for a variety of patient populations including oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary patients. Patient care involves a combination of medical and progressive levels of care. The nurse will manage a patient ratio of 1:5-6 for medical-surgical patients and 1:3-4 for progressive care patients. Common procedures include administering drips for Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin. The nurse will care for patients with instability due to strokes and those requiring BiPAP. This role requires strong experience in neuro assessments and interventions. The nurse will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. Floating to different areas may be required based on staffing needs.
