Mat-Su College, an extended campus of UAA, is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Accounting Supervisor within the Administrative Services department. We seek a highly motivated and organized individual who enjoys working in a fun and fast-paced environment. This position oversees the operations, budget and employees of the Campus Cache (campus store) and Copy Center. We strive to provide quality customer service to our students and the university community while maintaining the highest possible standards of accuracy and compliance in the administration of student accounts, university receivables, cash management and procurement. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, experience assessing and prioritizing tasks, projects and demands, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure while meeting multiple and competing deadlines, a willingness to learn, and the drive to improve processes or create efficiencies. The ability to correctly interpret and apply complex rules and regulations and maintain compliance is vital to this position.To thrive in this role, the successful candidate will have two to five years of progressive experience in a relevant accounting position that includes development and management of budgets and procurement processes. The ideal candidate has experience in employee supervision, including hiring and performance evaluations along with providing day-to-day guidance, training and direction, and regularly assigning and reviewing work product. Knowledge of general accounting practices, including the proper use of debits and credits, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), balancing and reconciling accounts and internal controls is required. Organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, often with interruptions, is crucial. Computer experience to include Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; word processing, databases, spreadsheets and email management is required with advanced spreadsheet experience preferred. Prior experience in Banner or other accounting information systems, TOAD, OnBase, and/or point-of-sale systems preferred. Preference is given to applicants with supervisory, budgeting, procurement, and computer experience, including Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, or a related field and 2 years of professional fiscal experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required for this position.
Position Details:
This position is located on the Matanuska-Susitna College campus in Palmer, Alaska. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 79, based on education and experience.
