Preventative Maintenance Field Service Technician

HFO Chicago is the exclusive distributor for Haas CNC machine tools and rotary products. Position Summary We are currently seeking an adventurous and diligent Field Service Maintenance Technician. This role will provide exciting opportunities to work for a multifaceted company in a fast‑paced, growing industry. The role requires traveling to customer facilities; the company provides a vehicle and covers gas expenses. Job Responsibilities Travel to customer sites to install and perform preventative maintenance inspections on machine tool equipment. (Company provided vehicle & gas for travel paid by the company) Use online technical documents, how‑to videos and checklists to provide guidance on all maintenance procedures. Ensure accurate documentation is completed and submitted to office and customer regarding status of services provided. Participate in on‑boarding training in maintenance procedures. Prior CNC experience is a plus, but not required. Other Functions Perform related duties as required. Job Qualifications and Proficiencies Demonstrated ability in mechanical or electrical repair and/or maintenance. Ability to read and interpret procedures and how‑to guides. Software experience, like Microsoft Office, is a plus; this position requires use of a laptop, smartphone and various software applications. Excellent communication skills are a must. Must be able to lift 40-50 pounds regularly. Reliability is a must. Flexible hours and frequent travel and driving throughout a regional territory; you will be dispatched each day from your home, then travel to customer sites to work. Ability to bend, twist, stoop, reach, and lift moderate to heavyweight material up to 50 lbs. with assistance from equipment or other employees. Ability to frequently use hands and arms. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work responsibly and professionally in dynamic job sites that may involve tight timelines, changing priorities, and interaction with customers and team members. Safety Sensitive Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods while servicing equipment. Ability to work in tight spaces or awkward positions, including accessing equipment interiors and elevated areas. Strong hand‑eye coordination and fine motor skills required for precise electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic work. Ability to work in industrial environments, with exposure to noise, lubricants, coolants, metal chips, and other manufacturing conditions, while consistently wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
