Job Summary The Manager—Patient Care leads administrative, human resource, and financial management for designated patient‑care areas that deliver direct and indirect care to a specific age group. The role requires demonstrating effective nursing leadership behaviors, supporting strategic planning, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of evidence‑based practice and safety. Key duties include participating in on‑call rotations as needed and performing additional responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities Provide administrative, human resource, and financial leadership for designated patient‑care areas. Participate in nursing strategic planning and align service goals with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. Ensure compliance with planning, regulatory, and inspecting agencies and LLUMC‑M policies. Mentor and coach charge nurses and staff to transform culture, processes, and clinical practice. Lead the conversion of bedside care to evidence‑based practice, emphasizing safety initiatives, quality care, and best practices supported by innovative technology. Assist the Executive Director in developing, implementing, and maintaining a unit‑specific performance‑improvement and patient‑safety program using Six Sigma tools. Participate in on‑call rotations for designated areas as necessary. Perform additional duties as required. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, or Associate’s Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor’s Degree in a healthcare‑related field, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing. Minimum three years of nursing experience demonstrating competencies in clinical nursing, leadership, or education. Knowledge & Skills Substantial knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations, finance, performance improvement, quality, patient safety, evidence‑based clinical practice standards, medical staff structure, and legal aspects of care. Understanding of adult learning principles, management, and problem‑solving methodologies. Strong communication skills in English (Spanish preferred), computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, electronic medical records, event reporting programs). Ability to lead, supervise, teach, collaborate, and maintain professional behavior and appearance. Capacity to work calmly under pressure, make critical decisions, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines. Licences & Certifications Active California Registered Nurse Licensure required. Basic Life Support Certification issued by the American Heart Association required. Other certifications as specified in the department‑specific care plan.
