Surgical Technician - OR

The Surgical Technician - Operating Room (OR) position focuses on supporting surgeons and the surgical team by preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and assisting during pediatric surgical procedures.


Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up the operating room with sterile instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Maintain a sterile surgical field throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons by passing instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Review patient, physician, and procedure requirements to ensure the correct equipment and supplies are available.
• Handle, label, and manage surgical specimens.
• Perform room turnover, restocking, and cleaning between procedures.
• Maintain and protect surgical instruments from damage.
• Update and maintain physician preference cards.
• Serve as a preceptor for surgical technology students and assist with staff orientation.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support perioperative services.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification..

• Knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention.
• Strong understanding of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced operating room.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
