What You'll Get to Do:The software engineering manager will lead a section of approximately 10-15 application software engineers working within the San Diego Engineering and Sciences (E&S) Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) department. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary. Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces.The qualified candidate shall also be a technical performer, working approximately 80% directly on programs involving systems within the Connectivity & Network Solutions (CNS) business unit (BU), representing our Engineering and Sciences organization.This manager will support and be accountable for goals including:Cultivate an inclusive and engaging workplace. Manage compensation and career progressionSupport the creation, updating, and maintenance of software engineering processes.Basic Qualifications:BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of expCandidate must have excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, and be able to work independently and within groupsAbility to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution mattersProficiency in software development, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processesFamiliarity with other engineering disciplines including manufacturing, test, systems, quality, and electricalMust have an active Secret ClearanceCandidate must be able to work on site at the facilityPreferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leaderCandidate should have hands on experience with DoD communications systemsProficiency in C/C++, Python, Java, XML, Multi-threaded Linux EnvironmentsFamiliar with OMS/UCI infrastructureExperience with DevOps technologies including Atlassian suite, GitLab, Jenkins, Coverity, BlackDuckCandidate should have direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadershipFamiliarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilitiesFamiliarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurancePrimary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
