Job Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY: The Behavior Specialist I is responsible for providing psychological services to the clients on the main campus of Beverly Farm Foundation within their assigned unit according to their caseload and interdisciplinary team request.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: includes the following. Other job duties may be assigned.

1. Behavioral Specialist I

Provide an annual assessment for the clients on their caseload (individuals receiving a psychotropic medication, clients with mental illness and/or clients with a level II or level III intervention in their behavior management plan).

Write behavior management plans for clients on their caseload or as requested by Interdisciplinary Team.

Monitor clients on psychotropic medications progress on behavior management programs monthly by A) reviewing behavioral data and making a progress note in the clients chart and by B) conducting a Psychotropic Drug Review.

Accompany clients to psychiatry appointments, follow up with psychiatric care provider regarding the client's progress on a regular basis, review any psychiatric recommendations with the Team.

Consult with physician in conjunction with the nursing staff regarding behavioral or medication issues on an as needed basis.

Teach classes in regards to behavior modification and aggression management.

Provide in-services annually and on as needed basis to staff regarding behavior issues.

Serve as a representative to the Human Rights and Behavior Management Committees for the clients who require level II or level III intervention.

Provide permanent records for all clients within the assigned unit.

Provide social support for clients who have emotional or adjustment issues on an as needed basis.

Compensation

$45,000 - $48,000

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology; Experience in behavior intervention/behavior management preferred

Skills Requirements:

• Highly proficient computer skills and comfortable with software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel, access, power point) or similar software. Advanced knowledge and use of Outlook.
• Interpersonal Skills – Focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from the Administrators, Unit Directors, Clinical Director, Human Recourses, Employees, Clients and the General Public.

Abilities Requirements:

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or report form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in non-standardized situations. Able to use tangible and intangible information to come to a result.

Technology Skills: Utilizes computer to accomplish job tasks. Computer literacy essential in word processing, spreadsheet applications, and databases. Knowledge of Outlook or similar program

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, crawl, and reach. Employee will occasionally use a mechanical lift, climb stairs and ramps. The employee will frequently and occasionally lift and/or move up to or over 75 pounds. From time to time, employee may be required to work long hours. The employee is frequently required to use both hands, push/pull, use sharp objects, and talk. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. On occasion, noise level may be very loud. On occasion the work environment may be cold and hot.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities required by this job include the ability to hear when communicating with employees and using a phone line.
