Overview Adult Neuropsychologist III — Leading Not-for-Profit Integrated Health System | Patient Care Sacramento, California | Full-Time | Days (M–F) | Hybrid Eligible Compensation: $60.70 – $91.05/hour (~$126K – $189K annually) You didn’t spend a decade training to spend your career fighting for autonomy, drowning in administrative tasks, or wondering if your work actually matters. What if your next role gave you the clinical freedom, multidisciplinary support, and work-life balance you’ve been looking for—backed by one of California’s most respected health systems? Our client—a prestigious, Forbes-recognized not-for-profit health system headquartered in Sacramento—is seeking an experienced Adult Neuropsychologist III to join a well-established, collegial neuropsychology team. This is a generalist role with referrals primarily from Neurology, spanning neurodegenerative disorders, TBI/concussion, stroke, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, and psychiatric differential diagnosis. You will function as a valued member of a multidisciplinary team—not as an isolated provider buried under paperwork. Why This Role Is Different We know what drives neuropsychologists to make a change. Research shows that autonomy, flexibility, workplace culture, and meaningful clinical variety are the top factors for professional well-being in neuropsychology. This position was designed with those priorities in mind: True Clinical Autonomy — You direct your evaluations, choose your assessment batteries, and make clinical decisions without corporate interference. Your expertise is trusted and respected here. Diverse, Meaningful Caseload — Evaluate a wide spectrum of adult neurological and neurobehavioral conditions. Every day brings intellectual challenge and the opportunity to make a direct impact on patients’ lives and care trajectories. Multidisciplinary Collaboration, Not Isolation — Work alongside neurologists, psychiatrists, and allied health professionals who value your insights. Your reports influence treatment plans, not just sit in a chart. Hybrid Flexibility — Most work is onsite at the Sacramento campus, but telework is available for report writing and select activities—giving you the flexibility that research shows is critical to preventing burnout. Monday–Friday, Daytime Schedule — No nights. No weekends. No on-call. Protect the personal life you’ve worked so hard for. A System That Invests in You — Forbes named this organization one of California’s Best-in-State Employers for 2025. With 85% of employees recommending it as a great place to work, this isn’t just a recruitment claim—it’s a measured reality. What You’ll Do Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations for adult patients with suspected organic etiologies, psychiatric rule-outs, and complex diagnostic presentations. Identify, quantify, and describe cognitive and behavioral changes associated with central nervous system dysfunction and mental health disorders. Develop individualized assessment and treatment plans as part of a hospital/outpatient clinic multidisciplinary team. Communicate evaluation results clearly and compassionately to patients, families, and referring physicians. Contribute to the clinical and academic mission of the department, with opportunities for training, mentorship, and professional development. Who You Are Required Qualifications Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, or a closely related field. Completion of a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology (consistent with Houston Conference guidelines). Active California psychology license (or license eligibility). Demonstrated expertise in adult neuropsychological assessment across a range of neurological and psychiatric populations. Pre-doctoral internship/training with experience in adult neuropsychology. Preferred Qualifications Board certification (ABPP/ABCN) in Clinical Neuropsychology, or board eligibility with active pursuit. Experience in a medical center, hospital-based, or integrated health system setting. Experience with neurodegenerative disease assessment (dementia differential diagnosis, movement disorders). Familiarity with electronic health records (Epic experience is a plus). Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration with neurology, psychiatry, and rehabilitation services. Strategic investments in innovation—including a dedicated Innovation Center, AI-powered clinical partnerships, and significant capital commitments to safety and technology—reflect a health system that is actively building the future of healthcare while supporting the professionals who deliver it. Why Sacramento California’s capital city offers a quality of life that rivals the Bay Area without the Bay Area price tag. Sacramento features a thriving farm-to-fork dining scene, proximity to Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, and the Sierra Nevada, a growing arts and culture community, excellent schools, and an affordable housing market relative to coastal California metros. It’s a city where your compensation goes further and your weekends go bigger.
