This is a potential to hire opportunity on 1st shift.Welder Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:Set up and operate welding machines that weld together and mass-produce component parts of fabricated metal products as specified by blueprints (read and understand weld symbols), layouts, welding procedures or oral instructionsJoin two pieces of metal to create a quality customer product using methods such as MIG welding, robot and spot weld includedTack-weld or weld components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipmentHeat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipmentIgnite torch and adjust valves, amperage or voltage to obtain desired flame or arcAnalyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operationsObtain specified electrode and insert electrode into portable holder or thread consumable electrode wire through portable welding gunConnect cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specifiedStart power supply to produce electric currentStrike (forms) arc, which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to workpiece and join edges of workpieceManually guide electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddlePosition and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixtureMeasure part dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operationMay tack assemblies togetherMay operate other machine shop equipment to prepare components for weldingWork safely at all times and follow safety proceduresOperate any equipment needed to perform jobPerform related duties as assigned by supervisionWelder Requirements:- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)- Must have 4-5 years of welding experience in a metal fabrication shop- Ability to speak and read English- Must consistently meet weld quality standards and demonstrate knowledge of MIG, stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum welding, and automated welding where applicable- Must supply their own hand tools- Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodations- Ability to stand on feet for 10- or 12-hour shiftsQPS Employment Group is a full-service staffing firm comprised of dedicated and passionate people with over 50 offices throughout the United States.
