Truss Designer

Drexel Building Supply is seeking a Truss Designer to create accurate, cost-effective truss layouts for residential and light commercial projects. In this role, you’ll interpret blueprints, use truss design software, and ensure every design meets structural, code, and safety requirements. You’ll partner closely with sales, production, and builders to clarify project needs, resolve design challenges, and support on-time delivery. Create accurate truss designs and layouts using design software based on plans and specifications Review blueprints and structural requirements to determine materials, loading, and connection details Collaborate with sales, project managers, and builders to clarify project needs and resolve design issues Prepare detailed drawings, cut lists, and documentation for truss fabrication and installation Verify designs meet building codes, engineering standards, and company guidelines Perform design revisions and value-engineering to optimize cost and performance Communicate clearly with production teams to ensure designs are buildable and accurate Support project timelines by managing design priorities and meeting deadlines Truss design software (MiEtK, Alpine, or similar) Reading and interpreting construction blueprints Structural design fundamentals for wood trusses Knowledge of residential and light commercial construction Building codes and load requirements CAD or drafting software Material takeoffs and cut lists Mathematical and spatial reasoning Construction documentation and detailing Cross-functional communication with sales and production Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k MiTek or similar truss design software training or certification (preferred) OSHA 10 or 30 construction safety (preferred) Associate degree or coursework in drafting, construction, or engineering (preferred) #J-18808-Ljbffr Reporter Newspapers
