Avionics Bench Repair Technologist

Location: Tucson, AZ

Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

Compensation: $23/hr during training, then +$2/hr shift differential upon moving to 2nd Shift ($25/hr total)

As the lab hums to life mid-afternoon, you settle in at the bench. A flight-control PCB arrives with an intermittent fault. You pull the schematic, trace signals with your scope, and isolate the failure to a suspect IC. A clean, IPC-quality rework later, the board passes verification tests and returns to service—one more critical system cleared for the skies. Throughout the shift, you’ll partner with manufacturing and engineering to untangle tricky issues, document your findings clearly, and keep essential aerospace electronics operating at their best.

• Diagnose, repair, and restore electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards to spec
• Pinpoint failed components and perform component-level fault isolation
• Interpret schematics and drawings to guide troubleshooting
• Execute precision soldering and rework (through-hole and SMT)
• Run functional tests and verification; record results and corrective actions
• Collaborate with manufacturing/engineering teams to resolve technical problems

• Hands-on electronics troubleshooters with bench experience
• Technicians fluent in reading/understanding electronic schematics
• Pros with proven PCB/electronic assembly repair background
• Confident, consistent soldering and rework capability
• Comfort using oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, and other diagnostic tools
• Root-cause thinkers able to identify failed parts and why they failed

• Electronics Technician / Electronics Repair Technician
• Bench Technician / Depot Repair Technician
• Avionics Technician / Field Service Technician
• SMT Technician / Test Technician
• Manufacturing Technician / Electro-Mechanical Technician

• Aerospace or aviation electronics exposure
• IPC or J-STD certifications
• SMT rework proficiency
• Component-level troubleshooting depth
• Experience repairing avionics/aerospace equipment

• 30–60 days on First Shift for training
• Transition to Second Shift afterward
• Monday–Friday, with potential overtime

• Soldering and electronic assembly rework
• Electrical/electronic systems diagnostics and repair
• PCB troubleshooting and circuit board repair
• SMT processes and rework
• Test equipment troubleshooting (scopes, meters, analyzers)
• Electro-mechanical systems, avionics basics, and failure analysis
