Department: 7680 CT Scan (KHMC) Work Shift: Variable – 12‑hour shift (United States of America) Qualifications CA Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) license required. ARRT (R) BLS certification required. Must obtain ARRT (CT) and Fluoroscopy license within 18 months of hire or transfer. Preferred: IV Certification. Preferred: Experience as a Diagnostic Technician and CT Technician. Job Responsibilities Operate Multi‑Slice CT equipment according to procedure and select appropriate scan angles, slices, techniques, and protocols to ensure maximum image quality. Provide radiation and general safety protection for patients and staff in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Adjust imaging protocols and techniques to accommodate age, body habitus, disease process, and condition of each patient, minimizing radiation exposure by adhering to ALARA principles. Perform quality assurance procedures and verify physician orders for exam appropriateness prior to CT examinations. Refer questions to radiologist, referring physician, or manager before performing the procedure. Complete all paperwork and data entry comprehensively and accurately. Thoroughly explain the CT procedure to the patient before initiating imaging and conduct an interview to determine patient eligibility, focusing on drug sensitivity, allergic history, or other compromising medical conditions. Safely transfer and position patients correctly for the CT examination, including proper immobilization and assistance with contrast media administration. Check images for clarity and correct identification, and display competence and confidence in specialized CT procedures such as CTAs, CT cardiac exams, CT perfusion, and stroke protocol. Use the department RIS computers according to procedures and ensure timely, comprehensive, and accurate transfer of CT images to the PACS system. Maintain proficiency with advanced applications on the CT post‑processing workstation and follow procedures for timely transfer of CT images to the teleradiology service, including submission of appropriate demographic documents. Keep the work area clean and orderly, ensuring equipment is maintained and the room is appropriately stocked with supplies. Develop and maintain good working relationships with hospital/imaging center staff, medical staff, and the community. Assist physicians in viewing images on the Imaging Services PACS system and support the hospital with on‑call services as needed. Maintain visual and audible communication with patients throughout the exam, work with physicians to prioritize studies—including trauma/critical, stroke, urgent, and stat exams—and appropriately notify vendors/engineers when equipment is not functioning. Verify two patient identifiers on every patient prior to performing CT and notify the Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) in the event of a misadministration of radiation. Mentor and teach new technicians or students learning CT in a positive manner to foster a learning environment. Assist in administering first aid as necessary and maintain current Basic Life Support certification. May perform procedures in Diagnostic Radiology as assigned and actively participate in CQI. Assist other shift members with patient assignments and ensure proper security of medications, including access to emergency medication kits and preparation of licensed medications as permitted. Maintain PAR levels and update supply and medication expiration dates. Perform other duties as assigned. Pay Range $50.00 – $50.00 per hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr
