This role partners with QFS, R&D, and Baking Technology teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize formulations, and ensure scalable, compliant solutions.Key Responsibilities:Analytical & Technical Support:Conduct testing on finished products and ingredients (pH, water activity, texture, shelf life)Perform microbiological analysis (yeast & mold detection, trending)Evaluate impact of reformulation on shelf life and mold controlApply knowledge of ingredient functionality (enzymes, preservatives, fermentation systems)Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiativesProduct Development & Validation:Support formulation development, optimization, and scale-upParticipate in bench-top and plant trialsValidate ingredient systems under commercial conditionsEnsure alignment with reformulation requirements and claimsData & Continuous Improvement:Analyze product and process data to identify trends and opportunitiesConduct statistical analysis and support DOE (Design of Experiments)Generate technical reports with clear, actionable recommendationsSupport process control updates and analytical method alignmentCross-Functional Collaboration:Partner with QFS, Operations, R&D, and other teams to resolve product issuesSupport reformulation initiatives and testing methodologiesContribute to technical problem-solving and project alignmentLeadership Competencies:Demonstrates Self-Awareness – Use a combination of feedback and reflection to gain productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses.Collaborates – builds partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.Action Oriented – take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Understands the Business – Understands the business and organizational environment and shows interest in adapting to their culture and ways of working.Education and Work History:Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related fieldExperience with analytical testing and food microbiology (yeast & mold)Knowledge of bakery systems, shelf-life control, and ingredient functionalityExperience with data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab) and DOE (preferred)Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical writing skillsTravel:25–40% travel requiredIncludes plant trials, validations, and cross-functional project supportThe physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
