Summary:
The Fort Mojave Indian Tribe seeks a positive and task-orientated individual to successfully oversee the Fort Mojave Emergency Child Placement Center (ECPC). The Supervisor is responsible for implementing and effectively communicating Department programs of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe to Tribal Membership and the local community. The Supervisor must possess an ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; the ability to communicate clearly; the ability to take direction and learn quickly; the ability to get along well with others; the ability to read, write, speak understand and communicate sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; exhibit reliability; courtesy; and posses a physical condition commensurate with the outreach and safety demands of the position. The Supervisor shall work under the direction of the Director, which may include all of the following:
Essential Functions :
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and ability required. •Have knowledge or a willingness to obtain knowledge of Tribal traditions, customs, and practices.
•Maintain and manage all Emergency Child Placement Center staffing.
•Manage multi-shift operations for 24-hour care of residents.
•Possess the ability to manage staff and department schedules.
•Create, develop, and manage department tasks, information distribution, and completing components of project planning.
•Ability to work with intergovernmental agencies and develop partnerships with Tribal, State, Federal and Non-Profit organization.
•Ability to evaluate and determine eligibility for program services.
•Ability to operate and schedule multiple shifts.
•Ability to manage and receive daily reports from staff for each shift.
•Maintain the organization, placement, and care of department supplies and materials.
•Review and ensure all department resources and protocols are maintained and recommend modifications as needed.
•Ability to develop outreach and extra-curricular schedules for residents.
•Manage transportation-related resident needs for outside care and extracurricular activities.
•Manage and oversee office tasks; phone calls, receptionist duties, and events.
•Acknowledge and be willing to learn, share knowledge, and create an open learning environment.
•Act as a role model and help create an environment that inspires and promotes planning and safety.
•A willingness to work a demanding schedule that may require unique hours and flex-scheduling.
•A basic understanding of case management and willingness to learn effective case management procedures.
•A willingness to remain committed and dedicated to the completion of tasks in a positive manner.
•A willingness to maintain a positive attitude and ensure reliability and dependability on department projects and partnerships.
•Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
•Ability to work with students, elders, and adults seeking information from the Department.
•Ability to lift and load supplies to and from the Emergency Child Placement Center.
•Ability to order, track and manage Center supplies and resources.
•Ability to communicate effectively and complete timely reports.
•Ability to coordinate projects effectively, including but not limited to, department travel, planning meetings, and client transportation to school and appointments.
•Ability to establish collaborative relationships with the Fort Mojave Tribal Police, Social Services Office, and the Prosecutor’s Office to build relationships that may lead to positive client outcomes.
•An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the proper release of information.
•Knowledge or willingness to learn Tribal, State, and Federal regulations that may impact emergency placement response planning on the FMIT Reservation.
•Ability to work with high-risk youth populations to help achieve positive outcomes and transitional return to the community.
•Knowledge and/or willingness to learn how to develop, write and create planning that helps youth obtain all support services required for them to succeed.
•A willingness to create a positive environment for you to feel comfortable and safe.
•A willingness to lead tasks individually and ensure task completion if assigned as a project lead.
•Provide clients with information about learned culture knowledge, department policies, and practices and answer questions as needed.
•This position requires shift rotations at the department’s direction, including swing and graveyard shift coverage.
•All other duties as assigned.
Education:
· Required : High School Diploma or GED.
· Desired : Bachelor of Arts or Sciences
Experience :
· Required: Three (3) to Five (5) years of documented case management experience.
· Desired : A minimum of one (1) year of work experience.
Computer Skills:
· Desired : Experience with essential Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Excel and Work.
Competency:
To perform the job successfully, as individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
·An awareness or willingness to learn of the Government, Culture, and History of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe.
·An awareness or willingness to learn Tribal Customs and Practices.
·A base knowledge of principles and techniques for flyer development and creation.
·Skilled in developing and presenting effective materials.
·An ability to properly manage time, complete tasks, and multi-task.
·An ability to manage stress under pressure.
·Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
· Required : Must not have any criminal history. Must be able to pass the highest criminal background investigation.
· Required: Knowledge and/or willingness to learn Tribal Customs and support department-sponsored initiatives as required.
Reasoning Ability:
·Ability to interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates and Licenses :
· Required : Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe Insurance Plan.
· Required : Pass a drug test and adhere to the Tribe’s Drug-Free Policy.
· Required : Obtain a Food Handlers card issued by the Indian Health Services or certified food handlers’ program (i.e., California, Arizona, Nevada) within the first month of employment.
