About the Position We are seeking a detail‑oriented, execution‑focused Data Center Operations Technician to support customer requests and day‑to‑day operational activity within a 24x7 colocation environment. This role is the primary hands‑on operational resource for remote hands services, structured cabling, interconnection support, physical‑layer validation, alarm response, and operational monitoring within the data center. This is a fast‑moving, highly visible role that requires precision, professionalism, and strong judgment. You will support customer and carrier environments through cross‑connect installs, cable testing, equipment checks, server reboots, visual inspections, documentation updates, and operational response activities. You will also monitor alarms, perform rounds and readings, help maintain clean and orderly technical spaces, and escalates issues appropriately while working within defined procedures and domain boundaries. Be the hands‑on operational resource that keeps customer activity and day‑to‑day data center work moving. Shift: 2nd Shift: Sunday - Wednesday 2:00pm - 12:00am What You Do Daily Execute remote hands services and customer support requests, including reboots, media swaps, visual inspections, cable tracing, and basic physical‑layer tasks Install, test, label, and maintain structured copper and fiber cabling, patch panels, and cross‑connect infrastructure in accordance with site standards Provision and troubleshoot customer and carrier interconnection services within defined physical‑layer scope Monitor security, environmental, and equipment alarms, perform rounds and readings, validate field conditions, and escalates issues appropriately Maintain accurate documentation for cross‑connects, connectivity paths, capacity tracking, and operational activities Support physical network hardware readiness through rack‑and‑stack assistance, optic swaps, cable management, and visual checks Help maintain data center cleanliness, orderly pathways, and operational discipline in technical spaces Support controlled access and escort procedures within secure technical areas in accordance with site requirements Participate in rotating 24x7 on‑call support and flexible scheduling as needed What Makes You a Good Fit Hands‑on experience in data center operations, structured cabling, telecom, IT infrastructure, or a similar technical environment Strong working knowledge of copper and fiber media, patching practices, cable testing, and physical‑layer troubleshooting Ability to execute precise work in live customer environments without creating avoidable risk Strong attention to detail in labeling, documentation, change control, and customer‑facing task execution Ability to recognize environmental, equipment, or operational abnormalities and escalates clearly and appropriately Comfortable working in a 24x7 environment where responsiveness, professionalism, and consistency matter Leadership Profile Brings strong execution discipline and follows procedures carefully in live production environments Works with urgency while maintaining accuracy, documentation quality, and customer‑impact awareness Understands physical‑layer dependencies and knows when to act, when to verify, and when to escalates Maintains professionalism in customer‑facing work and cross‑functional coordination Supports operational readiness through reliability, flexibility, and attention to detail What Success Looks Like Customer requests and remote hands tasks are completed accurately, professionally, and on time Cross‑connects, cabling, and physical‑layer work are clean, well‑documented, and reliable Environmental, equipment, and security‑related issues are identified quickly and escalated with useful context Documentation remains current and supports provisioning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and audits Technical spaces remain organized, safe, and ready to support ongoing operations The site has confidence in the technician’s execution, responsiveness, and operational judgment Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or related certifications preferred 2+ years of experience in data center operations, structured cabling, telecom, IT support, or a related field preferred Experience working with copper and fiber cabling, patch panels, cross‑connects, and cable testing tools Familiarity with remote hands services, ticketing systems, documentation practices, and customer support in a technical environment Basic understanding of data center layouts, physical network topology, and interconnection environments Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotations as needed Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document work clearly and escalates issues effectively Why Join Us This is an opportunity to play a hands‑on role in supporting the day‑to‑day operations of a mission‑critical environment.
