This position serves as a final quality checkpoint between fabrication and installation. The Quality Control Specialist will identify dimensional, fabrication, finishing, material, and documentation issues and coordinate with the appropriate departments to ensure corrections are made before a project is released for installation. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, mechanically minded, comfortable working with measurements and drawings, and able to recognize both obvious and subtle quality issues in stone countertops.
Essential Responsibilities

- Verify that cutouts, holes, notches, radiuses, and other details are fabricated to the required specifications.
- Inspect finished surfaces for scratches, chips, cracks, stains, resin marks, tooling marks, burn marks, excessive polish, dull areas, and other defects.
- Inspect edge profiles for proper shape, consistency, polish, and finish.
- Check seams for proper fit, alignment, color/finish consistency, and overall appearance.
- Verify that all required pieces are present and properly identified.
Drawing & Measurement Verification:
- Compare fabricated pieces to approved CAD/shop drawings and project documentation.
- Verify critical dimensions and locations of cutouts, seams, overhangs, walls, corners, and other features.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings, templates, fabrication, and project requirements.
- Communicate discrepancies promptly to the appropriate Project Manager, CAD Technician, Fabricator, or Manager.
- Assist in determining whether corrections, refabrication, or additional work is required.
Material & Project Verification:
- Verify that the correct material, color, slab, and finish are being used for each project.
- Confirm material orientation and vein direction when applicable.
- Verify that pieces are fabricated from the correct slabs and correspond with project documentation.
- Check that remnants, backsplashes, support pieces, and other required components are included when specified.
- Confirm that finished pieces are properly labeled and organized for installation.
Final Release Inspection:
- Perform final inspections before countertops are loaded for delivery or installation.
- Ensure projects are complete and installation-ready before release.
- Verify that required installation materials, accessories, brackets, supports, or other components are included when applicable.
- Document quality issues and communicate them to the appropriate department.
- Maintain accurate quality control records and inspection documentation.
- Photograph significant defects or issues when documentation is needed.
Problem Identification & Corrective Action:
- Identify recurring quality issues and communicate trends to management.
- Work with fabrication and operations personnel to determine the cause of quality problems.
- Help develop corrective actions to prevent repeat issues.
- Provide constructive feedback to fabricators and other team members regarding quality expectations.
- Escalate significant or repeated quality issues to management.
- Help establish and maintain consistent quality standards throughout the fabrication process.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment when working in fabrication and warehouse areas.
- Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
- Follow proper procedures when handling stone and fabricated countertops.
