Job Description

The Painter I is responsible for preparing, painting, and inspecting agricultural equipment and components using established painting procedures and quality standards. This position works inside the paint booth and supports the paint line by ensuring products receive the proper finish while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Painter I is an entry-level position focused on learning the paint process, equipment, and quality expectations at FIMCO Industries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and components for painting by cleaning, masking, and inspecting surfaces.
  • Operate spray painting equipment according to established procedures.
  • Apply primer and paint to meet company quality standards.
  • Assist with paint color changes, including cleaning spray equipment and preparing for the next production run.
  • Mix paints and coatings following manufacturer specifications and company procedures.
  • Monitor paint quality, coverage, and finish throughout the painting process.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of paint booth equipment and spray guns.
  • Inspect finished products for defects including runs, missed areas, orange peel, or inconsistent coverage.
  • Communicate quality concerns to the Paint Line Lead or Supervisor.
  • Follow production schedules and maintain production flow.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of paint supplies and notify leadership when materials are running low.
  • Follow all environmental, safety, and PPE requirements.
  • Keep the paint booth and surrounding work area clean and organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Manufacturing or industrial painting experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to learn painting techniques and production processes.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Willingness to learn industrial painting processes.
  • Ability to identify basic paint defects.
  • Basic understanding of measuring and mixing materials.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Bend, reach, stoop, and climb as needed.
  • Ability to work in a paint booth environment while wearing required PPE, including respirators.
  • Ability to tolerate heat, humidity, paint fumes, and production noise while following safety procedures.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to paints, solvents, chemicals, and moving equipment.
  • Required use of respirators, eye protection, gloves, hearing protection, and other PPE.
  • Overtime as required to meet production demands.
