On-Call - Security Guard

POSITION SUMMARY

The Security Guard works to prevent risk, deter crime, and respond quickly during times of crisis for Channing House. This position is part of the Front Desk staff and works collaboratively to ensure the safety and support of Channing House staff and residents. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

• Greets and assists all residents and visitors with excellent customer service and welcoming demeanor.
• Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons.
• Makes themselves clearly visible and patrols premises to prevent and detects signs of intrusion, and ensures security of doors, windows and gates.
• Guards against theft and maintain security of premises.
• Inspects and patrols interior of building and time scans checkpoints throughout the campus.
• Answers alarms and investigate disturbances.
• Logs report of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences in the Officer Assist application.
• Makes suggestions for improvement on taking precautions on how to prevent security-threatening situations.
• Calls police or fire department in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
• Respond to medical emergencies by administering basic First Aid and contacting nursing staff as necessary.
• Relieves Front Desk staff for breaks and meal.
• Sorts and delivers resident newspapers.
• Monitor controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace or boiler.
• Maintains confidentiality of information under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and Channing House policy.
• Attends all mandatory in-service and safety procedure exercises and meetings.
• Remains awake and alert at all times, on all shifts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Years of Related Professional Experience :

• 1 year of relevant experience
• Equivalent combination of education and experience welcomed

Educational/Position Requirements :

• High School diploma, GED

Computer/Software/Technical Applications:

• Ability to use a computer
• Ability to use a smart phone
• Two-way radios
• Emergency Public Address Announcement System
• Ai phones

Languages :

• Ability to speak and comprehend English the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and/or comprehend other languages utilized by clients is a plus.

Required Licenses/ Certifications/ Background:

• Adult CPR/AED/First Aid certification
• Guard Card Preferred
