Conflicts & Compliance Analyst

Overview You will be responsible for assisting partners and other members of Clyde & Co with the new business inception process in line with legislation, case law, and regulatory requirements for a variety of jurisdictions. This will include conflicts of interest, anti-money laundering processes for new and existing clients, on‑going client monitoring, sanctions checks, and other risk management procedures. Structure You will be part of the global Conflicts & Compliance BAU Team, reporting regionally to the Head of BAU, North America. The BAU Team consists of a Global Head; a North American Regional Head; Team Leaders; Lawyers/Counsel; Senior Analysts; Analysts; and Assistants. The BAU works very closely with the firm's Risk Department, including its AML & Sanctions Lawyers and paralegals; General Counsel(s); and Risk Managers. Main Responsibilities Conflicts Review Intapp Open request forms, including new client and matter forms and client/matter changes, ensuring satisfactory details are provided by the Case Handlers and querying incomplete information. Determine risks associated with new clients and matters and conduct conflicts checks using the firm's database and Black Book warning file. Liaise with Partners and Case Handlers on potential conflicts and provide clear analysis and escalation as needed. Maintain and update the conflict search database and record all conflict research, communication and conclusions in the client and matter inception software. Anti‑Money Laundering Research, identify and verify new clients using online data providers and other resources. Determine corporate structures, trace ultimate beneficial owners, and analyze high‑risk clients and PEPs. Assign risk ratings, seek sign‑off from MLROs and Risk Partners, and advise Case Handlers on mitigating actions. Update Client Due Diligence for existing clients and record AML documentation and risk ratings in the client and matter inception software. Compliance Maintain technical knowledge of conflicts, AML and sanctions work throughout the firm. Screen all clients and matters for sanctions, escalating adverse findings to the Risk Team and Sanctions Partners. Carry out the conflict checking and client onboarding process for lateral hires and assist junior BAU members with training. Answer queries from the firm on the BAU helpline and email inbox and assist on project execution as required. Experience & Skills Knowledge of conflicts of interests rules and software. Knowledge of anti‑money laundering legislation (desirable). Strong MS Office skills. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong customer focus. Excellent communication, spelling and grammar skills.
