Role: Test Technician Location: Suwanee, GA – Onsite Pay: Up To $30 An Hour Type: Full-Time/Perm
Position Overview
The Test Technician is responsible for performing detailed testing, inspection, and repair of electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBs), and related assemblies. This role involves operating various test equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring products meet quality and performance standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical expertise, and the ability to work independently on assignments of moderate complexity.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute functional and performance testing, programming, and verification according to established procedures and documentation.
- Inspect electronic components and assemblies, verifying part values, orientation, and overall build quality.
- Support production teams by performing root cause analysis, identifying and repairing failures, and reducing false test failures and equipment downtime.
- Set up, validate, and maintain test fixtures, automated test software, and test procedures to meet customer specifications.
- Ensure all testing activities comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
- Work independently and exercise sound judgment to resolve technical challenges.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams to achieve production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of test results, repairs, and process documentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Technical Competencies
- In-depth understanding of electronic circuits, processors, PCBs, and test systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Skilled in using test and diagnostic equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, and signal/function generators.
- Familiar with Windows-based PCs and related software for data entry and documentation.
- Working knowledge of basic mathematics and electronic theory for troubleshooting and analysis.
- Understanding of IPC-610 standards, quality inspection procedures, and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on experience with soldering and desoldering techniques for both through-hole and surface-mount (SMD) components.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience inspecting and troubleshooting electronic assemblies.
- Ability to identify electronic components using part numbers, datasheets, and color codes.
- Experience with component-level PCB troubleshooting and rework.
- Ability to operate within an MRP system and perform documentation tasks.
- Skilled in reworking and soldering SMD components, including fine-pitch and leadless packages.
- Must be able to read and interpret both analog and digital schematics.
- Familiar with programming and testing a variety of electronic devices (e.g., processors, memory components).
- Physically able to perform visual inspections using microscopes or magnifiers.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in component-level PCB troubleshooting and repair.
- Familiarity with Mil-STD 105E sample plan inspection procedures.

- Soldering and desoldering stations
- Oscilloscopes, frequency meters, and probes (current, voltage)
- Function and signal generators, RF test equipment
- Automatic soldering machines
- Linux/Unix systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency required)
