As a 100% employee-owned company, employees share in the long-term success we build together.With flexible ways of working and meaningful development opportunities, you’ll build a career you can be proud to stand behind.The Opportunity As the Federal Telecommunications Engineering Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:Lead communication designs and coordinate with other disciplinesCreate conceptual and detailed systems designs, including producing design drawings, specifications and design analysis deliverablesCoordinate with a BIM/CAD team for drawing productionPerform quality control duties and independent technical reviews Manage assigned budgets, scopes and schedules Mentor and provide guidance/instruction to less experienced staff membersMay perform fieldwork and write assessment reports May assist with creation of design guides and templates May provide support to business development or pursuit activitiesThe Team The Black & Veatch Special Projects Corp. has its mission to provide a full range of services to our primary client base - U.S. Government agencies and departments. Our primary areas of focus are: Architecture/Engineering (A/E) Services, Defense Program, Design/Build, Classified, and Environmental. Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, BICSI industry standards, codes and best practices related to the design of Information and Communications Technology (ICT), low voltage, and telecommunications systems Strong knowledge of structured cabling systems from a safety and constructability perspective Strong knowledge of inside plant (ISP) cabling infrastructure to include telecommunications spaces and pathways, copper, and optical fiber cabling and connectivityExperience in outside plant (OSP) design of copper and fiber optic communication systemsExperience in audio-visual (AV) system design4+ years of experience designing applicable telecommunication systemsRegistered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) requiredAs part of this role, you will be assigned to projects supporting U.S. Government Agency/Department clients. Due to the nature of the work, candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
