Assistant Professor of Business Law

Job Description: University of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track assistant professor in Business Law. This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The role is within Thomas College of Business and Economics and offers a collegial environment where classroom excellence is rewarded. Qualifications JD (Juris Doctor) degree required. Candidates with a JD and experience in business law will receive the highest priority. JD holders with professional experience will be seriously considered. Demonstrated evidence of teaching effectiveness, excellent communication skills, a commitment to scholarly research, proficiency with internet‑based technologies, and the ability to utilize online pedagogies to enhance classroom learning. Record of scholarly activities, preferably published articles in peer‑reviewed journals managing the specialized credential for AACSB scholarly academic (SA) status. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and graduate business law classes over three semesters per year (four classes if AACSB SA status is not maintained), including Business Law & Ethics, International Business Law, Commercial Law, and Legal Issues for Managers. Maintain AACSB SA status and engage in scholarly publication in discipline peer‑reviewed journals. Serve in departmental, college, university, professional, and community service activities as required by the department chair. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Training and Experience Degree in an appropriate discipline and prior experience teaching in a higher‑education setting.
