Duties

Help

• Set up cafeteria lines, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with hot and cold food items including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, bread, butter, and beverages; replenishes as necessary.
• Serve food by order and proper proportion. Break down and clean tables and area when meal is finished and return dishes and food to the kitchen area. Brews coffee according to the number of servings required.
• Assembles or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes. Make cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients.
• Washes tables and counters. Operates, break downs, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation. Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks and refrigerators.
• Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots. Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware. Loads dishwashers. Stores cleaned dishes, glasses and silverware.
• Cleans and sanitizes trash cans; disposes of trash. Unloads and stores food from delivery trucks.

• Must attend Team Member Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
• This is a flexible position. Flexible positions have no guaranteed hours. A flexible employee serves in a continuing position on a scheduled or as needed basis.
• Must be able to work varying/rotating shifts to include working days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j(1) to include a medical examination.
• Must be available to be available to work Community Events that Business Operations Division supports. The events include, but not limited to, Oktoberfest, Freedom Fest, Children's Fest, and Winterfest.
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate objects up to 40 pounds.
• May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:

Ability to understand and follow simple instructions, and be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.

Skills and Knowledge:

Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions. A working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination. Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards and safe work procedures. Must have the ability to read and understand written material. Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, such as counting the number of tables in order to determine the number of portions or meals required, or, how many servings a particular container will yield.

Area of Consideration

• This job is open to candidates who who live in the local commuting area (U.S. Citizens and Non U.S. Citizens that live within 50 miles of Ft. Rucker AL). • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Allowances and Differentials

• This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
• Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
