Position Summary Tampa Family Health Centers is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Dental Hygienist to join our dental care team. The Dental Hygienist will work closely with dentists and other members of the clinical team to assess patients’ oral health, provide preventive dental services, educate patients, and support the development of individualized treatment plans. This position plays an important role in helping patients understand the connection between oral health and overall wellness while expanding access to high-quality dental care within the communities we serve. Perform oral health assessments and review patient medical and dental histories Conduct oral cancer screenings and head and neck examinations Complete dental charting and obtain patient vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse Take and process dental radiographs in accordance with applicable clinical and safety standards Remove calculus, plaque, and other hard and soft deposits from tooth surfaces Perform preventive dental procedures, including fluoride treatments and the application of sealants Educate patients regarding brushing, flossing, nutrition, and other oral hygiene practices Counsel patients on the relationship between nutrition, oral health, and overall wellness Identify signs of periodontal disease, tooth decay, and other oral health concerns Communicate clinical findings and patient concerns to the treating dentist Take dental impressions for study models when needed Provide patients with clear instructions regarding treatment recommendations and follow-up care Maintain complete, accurate, and timely electronic health record documentation Follow infection-control, sterilization, safety, and clinical-quality standards Establish positive and professional relationships with patients, families, and coworkers Help identify dental supply, material, and equipment needs Assist with coordinating dental equipment maintenance and service requests Support a welcoming, respectful, and patient-centered dental environment Travel to other Tampa Family Health Centers locations when coverage is needed Perform additional duties that support the dental department and patient-care experience Qualifications Current and unrestricted Florida Dental Hygienist license Current Basic Life Support or CPR certification Previous dental hygiene experience preferred but not required Newly licensed Dental Hygienists are encouraged to apply Knowledge of preventive dental care, periodontal health, radiography, and oral hygiene education Ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and compassionately with patients and coworkers Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate clinical documentation Ability to follow oral and written instructions, clinical procedures, and applicable Florida dental regulations Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, dignity, confidentiality, and safety Ability to provide respectful and culturally responsive care to patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative dental care team Willingness to travel between TFHC locations when needed Benefits and Rewards TFHC offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, work-life balance, and professional growth: Competitive compensation Medical and pharmacy coverage with low-cost employee premiums Dental and vision insurance $0 employee copays for eligible care received through TFHC Generous paid time off Seven paid company holidays Professional-development and continuing-education support 401(k) retirement program with employer contribution after one year Employer-paid basic life and AD&D insurance Short-term and long-term disability coverage Employee Assistance Program Voluntary accident, critical illness, hospital indemnity, and pet insurance Student loan refinancing and financial-wellness resources Supportive, team-oriented clinical environment Opportunities for professional growth within an expanding healthcare organization Why Tampa?
