Compliance (Conflicts) Analyst
$60k - $90kNorton Rose Fulbright
Job Description At Norton Rose Fulbright, people thrive because of a shared commitment to quality, unity and integrity. The highly regarded law firm consistently receives recognition from Great Place to Work and Top Workplaces, two companies that specialize in assessing organizational culture. Teams collaborate across regions, value new ideas and deliver meaningful client solutions, supported by a culture that embraces ambition, development and shared success. With more than 3,000 lawyers and 3,000 business services professionals working together across 50 offices worldwide, this global law firm provides a full range of legal services to leading corporations and financial institutions operating in key markets and sectors. Norton Rose Fulbright is seeking an experienced Compliance (Conflicts) Analyst with conflicts review experience to join our US team. Compliance Analysts conduct conflict-of-interest research and analysis by reviewing matter intake, performing corporate and database research, and identifying potential issues for lawyer review. This team plays a vital role in protecting the firm’s integrity—enabling confident, compliant client engagement through accurate and timely conflict analysis. This position requires a self-starter to become proficient in understanding and using the conflicts of interest database to perform the firm’s conflict checks. Candidate must have excellent research and strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. The Compliance Analyst should be able to consistently exercise discretion and independent judgment. The US Compliance Team consists, at present, of the Deputy General Counsel, two Assistant Deputy General Counsels, three Counsel and Senior Managers, as well as a team of Compliance Lawyers, Senior Compliance Analysts, Compliance Analysts and Client/Matter Intake Analysts. The US Compliance Team works daily with Norton Rose Fulbright Compliance Teams in Australia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. This role may be performed remotely from any state where the firm maintains an office (Texas, California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, and the District of Columbia). Employees must also be able to attend the office as needed at the direction of their supervisor. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Ensure exemplary client service to all internal and external clients; proactively promote client service throughout department and among teams; respond to peer requests with recognition that request serves a client or firm need. Respond to lawyer and staff requests to perform conflicts of interest searches. Review information submitted by lawyers and support staff for completion and accuracy; follow-up with lawyers and support staff as needed to clarify information. Research corporate history of clients and parties; search websites for information about corporate affiliations (such as parent/subsidiary). Use Boolean searching and search terms to query the conflicts database. Apply judgment to design effective database searches and to distinguish relevant search results from those that are irrelevant. Review generated conflict reports for relevancy and relatedness based on the submitted information and identify potential conflicts issues. Independently analyze the report with limited guidance. Work closely with assigned Compliance Lawyers to ensure compliance workflow is as accurate and efficient as possible. Summarize the basis for potential conflicts and communicate any potential conflicts to assigned Compliance Lawyers. Develop familiarity with Global Practice Standards program and policies and answer inquiries regarding share dealings and related issues.
