Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager with direct construction materials testing (CMT) experience to manage construction materials testing and inspection projects from field execution through final delivery. This person will coordinate field testing, inspections, project staff, reporting, budgets, schedules, client communication, and project deliverables while maintaining strong safety and quality-control standards.

The strongest candidate is a hands-on CMT professional who understands concrete and asphalt testing , construction inspections, and quality control and can perform or oversee CMT work from day one. This is not a general construction or administrative project-management position.

We are considering candidates across a broad experience range, from CMT professionals ready to take on their first significant project-management responsibilities through experienced leaders who have managed teams and large or multimillion-dollar projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing projects safely, on schedule, within scope, and within budget.
• Coordinate field testing, construction inspections, reporting, project staff, subcontractors, and other resources.
• Review project requirements, test results, calculations, reports, and client deliverables.
• Track project schedules, budgets, forecasts, invoices, change orders, and collections.
• Conduct project meetings and communicate project progress with clients and internal teams.
• Assign priorities and coordinate staff and resources to meet project milestones.
• Identify and resolve operational issues before they create delays.
• Maintain strong safety, quality-control, and documentation standards.
• Manage projects ranging from under $50,000 to more than $100,000, with larger assignments potentially reaching into the multimillions.
• Provide leadership and oversight for approximately 5–10 employees.
• Work approximately 50% in the field during the first six months before transitioning to approximately 90% office and 10% field.

Required Qualifications

• Direct construction materials testing experience
• Working knowledge of concrete and asphalt testing
• Ability to perform or oversee construction materials testing from day one.
• Experience with construction inspections and quality control.
• Strong time-management, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to balance field activity, reporting, deadlines, client needs, and multiple projects.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
• Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or at least 6 years of directly related experience without a degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or another closely related technical discipline.
• MoDOT, IDOT, ICC, NICET, PE, PG, or similar certification.
• Experience managing project budgets, invoicing, change orders, and collections.
• Client-facing engineering-consulting experience.
• Experience managing projects valued above $100,000.
• Experience leading approximately 5–10 employees.
• Candidates near the top of the compensation range should have an engineering degree, at least 5 years of directly relevant industry experience, people-management experience, and responsibility for large or multimillion-dollar projects.
