Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Clinical/Counseling Psychology

Shenandoah University’s Department of Psychology is accepting applications for a lecturer or assistant professor. This is a full‑time benefited position located on our main campus in Winchester, Virginia. This position will begin in the Fall of 2026. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in clinical or counseling psychology who is passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduate students. The teaching load is 4–4 and may include Abnormal Psychology, Theories of Counseling, Research Methods, and other courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. As part of the teaching load each semester, the successful candidate will also teach our Field Placement and Professional Development course, which will involve overseeing current placement sites and developing new, community‑based experiential learning opportunities for students. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include academic advising for psychology majors. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to student learning, experiential education, and collaborative departmental growth. Required Experience Doctoral degree in clinical/counseling psychology (preferred) by the start of Fall 2026 semester, evidence of professional activities, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
