Associate Electrical Engineer (AEE) - Telework Hybrid

Job Description and Duties

This position is located at the DMV Headquarters in Sacramento.

Under the general direction of the Departmental Construction and Maintenance Supervisor (DCMS), Construction Unit, the Associate Electrical Engineer (AEE) acts as a liaison and technical advisor to the Facilities Operations Branch; completes final project plans, specifications and estimates; reviews all work for completeness and accuracy; prepares plans using standard drafting and computer aided design techniques for modular systems furniture, lighting systems, and fiber optic and processing systems, and other electrical and electronic systems; makes field investigations; collects engineering data; and provides load calculation information.

Working Conditions

Part-time telework available. Telework requires California residency. This position offers hybrid telework opportunities; however, telework arrangements are subject to change at any time based on State & departmental operational needs. Employees may be required to report to the office as necessary.

Work in an office setting which includes sitting and using a computer. May stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Advanced knowledge in AutoCAD and/or Revit and California Building Code. Knowledge of: Principles and practices of architecture, office planning and design, and development of facilities planning programs; building code requirements and other regulations affecting building design; project management; architectural and building materials. Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications and to design, render, and draw elevations, floor plans, etc.; lay out, inspect, and check the work of others; analyze situations accurately, make recommendations, and take effective action; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; communicate effectively; coordinate and manage projects to completion including required administrative processes; promote and be accountable for customer satisfaction and quality product delivery.
