About the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (VAGCVHCS)
Based in Biloxi, Mississippi and spanning the Gulf Coast, VAGCVHCS includes Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Mobile, AL, Pensacola, Ft. Walton Beach, and Panama City, FL. Acute inpatient medical and surgical care, primary, specialty outpatient care, long‑term care, blind rehabilitation, and inpatient/outpatient mental health services are provided at the Biloxi campus. Over 200,000 veterans reside in our service area. The system has affiliation agreements with three medical schools and numerous health programs, supporting resident training in cardiology, dermatology, general surgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, psychiatry, radiology, dental programs, and a general thoracic fellowship. Residents rotate from the University of South Alabama, Tulane University, Louisiana State University, and Keesler Air Force Base.

Position Summary
The Physician serves as a Primary Care Women’s Health Physician in an outpatient primary care clinic, providing comprehensive care for a panel of adult females. The physician will be highly skilled in managing primary care needs, subspecialty evaluation, and treatment. Responsibilities include contributing to quality of care standards, efficiency, process improvement, and patient satisfaction; ordering diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and coordinating specialty referrals; and practicing in accordance with professional standards and core values. Board Certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient care for adult female patients.
- Manage primary care needs and subspecialty evaluations.
- Contribute to quality of care standards, efficiency, and process improvement.
- Order diagnostic testing, prescribe medications, and refer to specialty services.
- Practice in accordance with professional standards and core values.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship (non‑citizens may be appointed if no qualified citizens are available).
- Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
- Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state, territory, or Commonwealth, or in the District of Columbia.
- Board Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of VA regulations (VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G‑2 Physician Qualification Standard).
- Veterans’ Preference considered for applicants with DD‑214, SF‑15, or supporting documentation.
- Education must be accredited by an institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
- Foreign education holders must provide a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency if required.
