Certified Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview We are seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) — also referred to as our Respiratory Care Practitioner I (RCP I). The Certified Respiratory Therapist carries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. The role focuses on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed. Shift Availability Days Employment Type Per Diem (PD/PRN) Hours 12-hour shifts – 7:00am to 7:00pm Location Providence Medical Center Kansas City, KS Benefits Competitive compensation Medical insurance benefit plan 401K Responsibilities Provide inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily. Conduct tests such as pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange. Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life‑supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently. Serve as part of a rapid response team in emergencies, providing airway management, performing intubations, and resuscitating patients in critical situations. Assess patients’ respiratory status, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans as needed. Ensure all respiratory equipment is properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to prevent infections and ensure patient safety. Qualifications State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and ongoing maintenance. Two years of experience as an RCP preferred.
