Red Hat Linux AdministratorGenesis10 is currently seeking a Red Hat Linux Administrator for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Plano, TX. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity.We are seeking a highly experienced Red Hat Linux Administrator to support large-scale patching, upgrades, and operational management of a 5000+ server Hadoop ecosystem running on RHEL 8.x and 9.x. The role requires strong automation skills, hands-on troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to operate effectively in a high-availability enterprise environment. This position requires a Tuesday–Saturday or Wednesday–Sunday schedule, working either 5 PM to 1 AM CT or 10 PM to 6 AM CT, and requires participation in off-hours and night shift activities to support scheduled patching windows.Responsibilities:Perform OS lifecycle management, including software installations, kernel patching, system updates, OS upgrades, and library managementManage and maintain Linux file systems, ensuring performance, capacity, and integrityExecute and automate patching and vulnerability remediation using BladeLogic, Ansible, and Shell scriptingDevelop automation solutions to optimize repetitive operational tasks and improve efficiencyTroubleshoot and resolve issues related to OS failures post-patching, system performance degradation, and filesystem inconsistenciesPerform system failure analysis, recovery, and root cause analysis (RCA)Support hardware and software configuration managementProvide production support and incident resolution in a large-scale distributed environmentRequirements:Approximately 5–8 years of Linux administration experienceExperience supporting thousands of servers in a large enterprise environmentStrong Linux patching and post-patching troubleshooting experienceHands-on support of physical/bare-metal serversExperience with server builds and vulnerability remediationAbility to access and repair systems through single-user mode, recovery consoles, or remote management consolesKnowledge of Linux services and troubleshooting tools, including SSSD, SSH, system logs, and service managementAnsible experience is preferred; Terraform experience may also be helpfulPrevious banking or financial-services experience is preferredPrevious experience with internal tools such as ITSM or Remedy is beneficialCollaborative, team-oriented mindset and willingness to learnDesired Skills:RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) certificationExperience with the Hadoop ecosystem (Cloudera / Hortonworks or similar)Experience with Enterprise system management toolsStrong knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Client-server architecturesFamiliarity with remote server management tools (DRAC, IPMI, Redfish, etc.)Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills in production environmentsPay range: $58.31 - $66.31 per hourOnly candidates available and ready to work directly as Genesis10 employees will be considered for this position.If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply!
