COOK / KITCHEN LEAD
We're looking for a cook who enjoys cooking, takes pride in their work, and can run a clean, organized kitchen.
You’ll prepare meals for residents in our residential rehabilitation program, following established menus, recipes, portions, and dietary requirements. The right candidate will be extremely organized, energetic, eager to work, and welcoming to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Cook from scratch — not just reheat or prepare pre-made meals
- Follow menus, recipes, portions, and dietary requirements
- Prepare and serve meals on schedule
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen
- Properly label, date, store, and rotate food
- Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs
- Complete daily cleaning and kitchen closing duties
- Prepare for special meals and events when needed
- Follow food safety and facility procedures
- Communicate issues that could affect meals, supplies, or kitchen operations
- Work independently and take ownership of the kitchen
- Know and participate with all safety procedures, including fire safety and evacuation.
- Participate in all assigned education and training programs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Previous scratch cooking or food-preparation experience
- Someone who genuinely enjoys cooking
- Reliable, punctual, and organized
- Strong attention to cleanliness and food safety
- Able to follow a menu while using good judgment when adjustments are needed
- Comfortable working independently
- Professional and respectful with residents and staff
- Restaurant, catering, healthcare, institutional, or other professional cooking experience preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Must have valid driver's license with less than 3 points
Food Handler or ServSafe certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
Schedule: Monday-Thursday 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
Pay: From $18.00/hr
Location: In Person- Southfield, MI
