Head Lifeguard

Job Summary

Saginaw Township Community Schools are seeking a dedicated and responsible individual to join our team as a Lifeguard at Sherwood Elementary School. This part-time position involves ensuring the safety of all students and staff during swim activities, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong swimming skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Responsibilities
- Monitor the swimming area to ensure the safety of all participants.
- Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain a safe environment.
- Provide immediate assistance and first aid in case of emergencies.
- Conduct regular safety checks of the pool area and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool and surrounding areas.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding safety protocols.
- Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
- Assist in teaching swim lessons as needed.
- Report any incidents or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.

Requirements
- Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is required.
- Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification is required.
- Red Cross First Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certification is required.
- Strong swimming skills and knowledge of water safety practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in emergency situations.
- Previous experience as a lifeguard or in a similar role is required.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.

Schedule and Location :

Shifts vary Monday through Friday, with the pool opening at 8:15 am to 12:10 pm at the Sherwood Pool.
