TITLE : Behavior Interventionist (Non-Certified)
STATUS/FLSA: Full-time / Non-Exempt
PAY SCHEDULE/GROUP: Teaching Assistants
SUPERVISOR: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 Days (if employed for the full contract calendar). Salary determined by schedule set by the Board.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The job of Behavior Interventionist was established for the purposes of effecting positive behavioral change in students, providing behavior interventions for identified students, supporting appropriate social and academic behavior, thus increasing opportunity for the social and academic success of students. Responsible for monitoring student conduct, reinforcing positive expectations, and maintaining student records. Also responsible for mentoring students, providing a positive role model, assisting where needed to ensure student progress. EDUCATION: Completion of high school/GED. Two-year college degree, preferred. EXPERIENCE: Experience working with middle school students, preferred. LICENCES / CERTIFICATIONS: College courses or appropriate score on the ParaPro Assessment to meet Highly Qualified requirement. QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols; Skills and ability to work with SmartBoard, Microsoft Office, and Outlook; Ability to operate basic office equipment; Ability to maintain a professional, positive attitude with students, parents and staff; Good organizational and planning skills; Knowledge and ability to understand and communicate effectively with students of various ages; Ability to maintain accurate records; Ability to maintain confidentiality. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE: Use computers for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, or Power School. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ACTIVITIES: Standing under 1/3 of the time; Walking 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; Sitting under 1/3 of the time; Gripping or feeling with hands 1/3 to 2/3 of the time; Reaching with hands and arms under 1/3 of the time; Climbing or balancing none of the time; Stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling none of the time; Talking or hearing over 2/3 of the time; Tasting or smelling none of the time. LIFTING: Up to 10lbs none of the time; Up to 25lbs none of the time; Up to 50lbs none of the time; Up to 100lbs none of the time; More than 100lbs none of the time. VISION REQUIREMENTS: No special vision requirements. WORKING CONDITIONS AND HAZARDS: Indoor Environment, Noise, Potential for violence/physical altercations.

- Experience working with adolescents, particularly students with behavioral or social-emotional needs, preferred.
- Ability to establish effective, professional working relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in stressful situations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Acts as a mentor, promoting positive behavior and academic success.
- Establish rapport with students to motivate pupils in developing positive behavior, provide strategies for developing character and knowledge to ens ure a safe orderly environment.
- Provide direct support to students exhibiting behavioral, emotional, or social challenges.
- Respond promptly to student behavioral incidents and provide appropriate interventions.
- Implement intervention strategies as directed by school administrators, counselors, special education staff, or other qualified specialists.
- Help students establish appropriate behavior patterns.
- Maintain constant monitoring with students unless relieved by appropriate school personnel, and supervise students' restrooms and lunch breaks.
- As directed by school administration, collect and maintain accurate data related to student behavior, interventions, and progress.
- Maintain constant communication with administration and classroom teachers to ensure students are progressing appropriately.
- Monitor students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, buses, and other school settings as assigned.
- Assist with student transitions throughout the school day.
- Focus on intervention planning for positive behavior development, academic engagement and achievement.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and academic engagement, and enforce discipline as required, abiding by the rights of students within the confines of Board policy.
- Assume responsibilities determined by administrators when not assigned to class duty.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities related to supporting student success as assigned by supervisor.
