Dietary Household Assistant

General Description And Purpose Of This Position The dietary household assistant performs the combined duties of dining services, including cook, kitchen assistant and kitchen activities. As the cook, the household assistant will prepare food for the household meals and snacks that are healthy and appetizing and served in a timely manner, maintaining high quality standards and portion control using standardized recipes for one floor (up to 21 residents). Assumes general responsibility for the kitchen and assists with serving resident meals, snacks and nourishments. Facilitates activities for elders and the household that involve food preparation or other activities specific to the kitchen.

Submission Requirements Previous experience in food services in a long term care or hospital setting - Required High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. 1 Plus year of Experience in skilled care or residential services for the elderly - Highly Preferred Ability to read, speak and understand English. Ability to write legible and correct English grammar. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, share correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence, Ability to effectively present information to residents, visitors, volunteers, licensed nursing staff and other employees of the facility. Ability to use basic computer skills (i.e. check emails, open attachments) and document in the electronic health record. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
