Job Details Level: Entry Job Location: CO Westminster 80031 - Westminster, CO 80031 Salary Range: $25.00 - $30.00 Hourly Reports to Project Manager, Contracting Officer, and Contracting Officer Representative JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/Objective The Materials Laboratory Engineering Technician (MLET) will be responsible for directing the testing of construction materials for specifications compliance of an agency construction project. The type of materials testing to be performed includes gradations of earth, concrete materials, in-place densities of earth, laboratory maximum densities of earth materials, and determining properties of freshly batched concrete. Essential Tasks and Functions The MLET shall become familiar with the plans and specifications for the construction project. The MLET may receive samples collected by agency personnel, or may need to be on-site to collect samples, prepare samples, and test samples. Competencies Experience with processing, placement, and testing of zoned earth embankments. Experience with gradation analysis testing of soils and aggregates. Experience with in-place density testing, including sand cone and nuclear gauge methods. Experience with the testing of fresh concrete, including slump, temperature, air content, and preparation and testing for compressive strength of concrete cylinder samples. Preferred knowledge of materials testing standards including the following agency's earth and concrete test standards Preferred knowledge of agency Safety and Health Standards as they apply to construction safety. Work Environment This position works at remote reservoir locations for field data collection. The position will also work in an office setting for report computation. Physical Demands Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to withstand ambient weather conditions. Must be able to lift 25 pounds on a frequent basis. Qualifications Required Education and Experience Minimum of 5 years performing materials testing in a construction environment. Professional Certifications in related field. Preferred Education and Experience ACI Field Testing Concrete ACI Laboratory Concrete Testing ACI Aggregate Testing ACI Shotcrete Inspection Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must have a standard Driver's License with acceptable driving record.
