LPN Supervisor
SUMMARY: National Capital Treatment & Recovery, formerly Phoenix House, a nonprofit substance use treatment facility in Arlington, VA is hiring a full-time LPN Supervisor to supervise the LPNs and Medical Assistants within our Adult Women's Residential Program. This position is responsible for assessing and monitoring the client's on-going addiction, recovery, psychiatric, and medical needs. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team members to coordinate addiction, recovery and/or psychiatric treatment with medical treatment. Promotes staff development regarding the medical aspects of addiction and recovery, safe medication management, and provides training with a focus on health and wellness. This position is responsible for supervising the LPN staff, conducting staff meetings as well as creating the LPN work schedule. This is a M-F, 3pm-11:30pm, hourly position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide general nursing care services within the legal scope of nursing practice and standards developed by the profession, Nurse Practice Act, and regulatory agencies
- Use professional nursing processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while carrying out nursing responsibilities
- Assess health care needs of clients through a variety of routine interdisciplinary assessments, and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and health care plans accordingly
- Manage LPN staff team
- Create and manage LPN work schedule
- Provide coverage for all open LPN shifts
- Conduct staff meetings
- Provide regular individual supervision for LPN staff as appropriate
- Evaluate, coach, and provide corrective action plans to assure LPN staff meet job performance standards and reviews all disciplinary action with Director of Nursing prior to instituting
- Respond to emergency health care needs of the clients
- Perform health screenings of clients
- Collect and record data specific to the health status of clients
- Collaborate to develop nursing guidelines/protocols for medical and health care needs.
- Monitor and clinically directs special programs such as infection control and medication management
- Participates in interdisciplinary planning meetings and recommends changes in nursing and health care programs and/or in the care of clients.
- Provides health care instruction and information to individuals and staff relating to the promotion of health and wellness.
- Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings
- Responsible for maintaining ethical standards and continued professional growth, including
- Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures
- Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintained
- Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staff.
- Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff
- Maintain current licensure/certification including CES, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management
- Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently licensed in Virginia as an LPN for at least three years
- Minimum of two years experience in addictions/psychiatric nursing
- Supervisory experience

The work environment is that of a substance abuse treatment milieu which may include:
- Exposure to clients infected with Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, or other Infectious Diseases
- Business-related travel may be required
SCHEDULING NEEDS
M-F 3pm-11:30pm, and weekend coverage during shift openings, if needed.
