Environmental Monitoring Specialist

Our client is seeking an Environmental Monitoring Specialist to support the administration, maintenance, and optimization of critical environmental monitoring systems within Research & Development laboratory environments. This role will serve as the primary owner of the Environmental Monitoring System (EMS), supporting system implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, documentation, and ongoing operation of temperature and humidity monitoring equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting laboratory equipment, engineering systems, facilities operations, or regulated environments. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer or technical professional looking to gain hands‑on experience with laboratory systems, equipment monitoring, validation activities, and compliance‑driven operations. Responsibilities Serve as the primary administrator and system owner for the Environmental Monitoring System (EMS). Support implementation and deployment of a new environmental monitoring platform across R&D laboratory spaces. Configure system settings including users, access permissions, alarms, monitoring points, and reporting functions. Install, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot wireless temperature and humidity monitoring devices. Monitor system performance and ensure reliable operation of environmental monitoring equipment. Partner with Facilities, IT, laboratory personnel, and external vendors to troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions. Support system qualification, validation, and documentation activities. Generate monitoring reports and maintain records supporting regulatory compliance and internal audits. Maintain system documentation, SOPs, equipment records, and configuration information. Assist with engineering projects involving laboratory equipment, facility improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Support additional technical projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. 1–3 years of experience supporting engineering systems, laboratory equipment, facilities operations, calibration programs, or technical environments. Experience working within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, healthcare, or other regulated environments preferred. Familiarity with Environmental Monitoring Systems such as Vaisala viewLinc, Rees Scientific, or similar platforms is a plus. Exposure to cGMP, FDA, ISO, or other regulated quality systems preferred. Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage documentation, coordinate with cross‑functional teams, and support multiple priorities.
