Financial Analyst IV - Commercial Data

Overview: The primary focus of this role is supporting Commercial data initiatives through comprehensive testing, data validation, reconciliation, and issue resolution. Validate source and target data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency; confirm reporting outputs align with business requirements; and leverage a strong understanding of commercial banking data and reporting to identify risks, investigate variances, and support successful implementation of strategic data and system initiatives.Primary Responsibilities: Allocates work as a team leader; trains and mentors/develops junior team members. Possess ability to direct/persuade/influence peers and manager.Responsible for problem resolution and data interpretation, perform or review variance analysis, and ensure timely submission of reports. Prepare/analyze/review of financial schedules, reconciliations and reports for the Corporation, which could include bank regulatory reports, SEC reporting, reports to shareholders and the Board of Directors, as well as internal management reports. Strong knowledge of various tax regulations as applicable.Requires complex judgment based on advanced analytical thought.Other functions include data integrity testing, general ledger entries, adherence to generally accepted accounting principles, SEC disclosure requirements, and bank regulatory requirements. May be responsible for the review of work of junior staff. Participates in special projects, improve existing processes, and interact with business line personal and communicate those results to department management.Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management. Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Complete other related duties as assigned.Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:May have indirect supervisory responsibilitiesEducation and Experience Required: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years’ experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum of 7 years’ experience in accounting, auditing, operations or financial institutionsComprehensive understanding of concepts and principles in multiple disciplines including finance, accounting and/or regulatory reporting, business operations, bank products and knowledge of banking industryHigh level of PC competencies (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access. Data visualization or data querying applications are a plus.) Detail oriented, with advanced problem-solving skillsGood verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated ability to multi task while prioritizing workloadEducation and Experience Preferred: 5+ years of experience in commercial banking, financial reporting, regulatory reporting, data management, finance, accounting, or a related analytical function, with strong knowledge of commercial banking data, products, reporting processes, and performance metrics.Experience supporting system implementations, conversions, and technology initiatives, including data validation, reconciliation, testing, quality assurance, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Proven ability to analyze complex data sets, identify and investigate discrepancies, determine root causes, and drive resolution while maintaining data quality and reporting accuracy.Advanced analytical and technical skills, including proficiency in Excel and experience with reporting, database, and visualization tools such as SQL, Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, AFS, Vision, or similar platforms.M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
