Opportunity:


RN - PCU


Job Details:


• 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Every other weekend requirement including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Typically 2-3 holidays during winter, otherwise every other holiday
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Self-scheduling with manager balancing, schedule opens 6 weeks in advance
• Cannot guarantee same shifts for travel duos
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: Days 1:4-5, Nights 1:5-6 dependent on acuity
• Nurse aide support available: Days 1:9, Nights 1:12
• 28-bed Progressive Care Unit with a neuro focus
• Common diagnoses include strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré, Myasthenia gravis, spinal injuries, thrombectomies, TNK/TPA 24 hours post, AMS, dementia, trauma ortho injuries, hematomas, bleeds, falls on blood thinners, and farm/MVA accidents
• Minimum 2 years of MS, PCU, or ICU experience required with experience in setting within the last 1 year
• Must have drip experience; required to titrate drips including Heparin, Nitro, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, 3%, and Insulin
• Tracheostomy and ventilator experience highly preferred; willing to train on vents but RN must be open to learning
• RT equipment includes vents, trachs, CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and EtCO2
• Central telemetry monitor located in a different area
• Floating required to sister MS units across 6 different specialties: mixed care, cardiac, general, MS ortho, heme/onc, and general patient assignments
• Dress code: Any solid color scrubs
• Unit orientation consists of 1 general shift and 1 shift with a preceptor
• Charting system: Cerner
• Open to first-time travelers
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS

This acute care facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering a wide range of specialized medical services. The Progressive Care Unit focuses on neurological and trauma orthopedic patient populations, supported by advanced respiratory therapy equipment and comprehensive specialty units. The facility maintains high standards of patient care with structured charge nurse support and dedicated nursing aide coverage across all shifts.
