Chief of Staff - Lead Technical Program Manager
JPMorgan Chase & Co.
Job Description
An exciting Chief of Staff opportunity in the Corporate Oversight and Governance technology organization awaits you. Elevate your career by providing operational oversight and steering multi-faceted, global technology initiatives that support the integration of innovative solutions for dynamic impact across global operations. At JPMorganChase, we invest in our people and empower leaders who are ready to shape the future of enterprise technology.
As a Lead Technical Program Manager (Chief of Staff) at JPMorganChase within Corporate Technology's Legal and Audit Technology organization, you will lead and focus on activities related to strategic business planning and functional business management. Your core responsibilities include strategic planning, measuring performance and execution against strategic goals, managing the budget, communications, location strategy, and workforce management
Job responsibilities
- Lead the Chief of Staff function for Legal and Audit Technology, collaborating with business stakeholders, technical program managers, and finance and business management teams to oversee technology spend, monthly finance and business reviews, revised forecasts, and budget alignment
- Partner with the Portfolio Management and Governance lead on annual budget planning and the monthly business review process to ensure financial discipline and strategic alignment
- Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate program planning and risk synthesis (e.g., consolidating inputs into integrated plans, RAID, and executive-ready updates), validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity requirements.
- Lead discussions on topics relevant to the team and actively participate in cross-group initiatives to drive cohesion and shared outcomes
- Develop and maintain an effective resource strategy for the organization, encompassing skills, role types, physical location strategy, and variable resource utilization
- Partner with Human Resources and technology leadership to support talent reviews and workforce planning initiatives
- Prepare management reports that support business operations and enable data-driven decision making at the leadership level
- Collaborate with the Finance and Business Management team to perform financial analysis and metrics reporting, including prompt review and escalation of organizational objectives and health metrics such as financial performance and span of control
- Establish control points to maintain timely oversight of vendor management engagements that maximize firm assets and mitigate risk
- Build trust and rapport through all interactions to deliver the right outcomes for the business and its stakeholders
- Promotes reuse-first, AI-assisted practices for program governance and reporting, ensuring human review and alignment to delivery standards.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on technical program management concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Demonstrated proficiency in resource management, organizational and operational change management, portfolio management, conflict resolution, negotiation, and budget and financial management including controls
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams that span an entire organization, influencing outcomes without direct authority
- Experience in strategic planning, creating roadmaps, and driving execution against defined goals
- Advanced analytical reasoning skills, applying critical thinking and problem-solving techniques to break down business, technical, and operational objectives
- Proven ability to lead through change, manage dependencies, and maintain control in high-pressure, shifting environments
- Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, establishing productive relationships with team members and business partners, and driving outcomes aligned with firm objectives
- Proactive approach to problem solving, with the determination to take ownership of issues and follow them through to resolution
- Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support program management workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
- Ability to review and validate AI-assisted plans, risks, and recommendations before use, escalating when uncertain and following data handling expectations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation, presentation, and the ability to produce documentation appropriate for varied audiences
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Prior experience in financial services, legal, audit, or regulatory technology environments
- Familiarity with enterprise portfolio management tools and governance frameworks
- Experience supporting or operating within a Chief of Staff function at a large, matrixed organization
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex ideas quickly and communicate them clearly to senior leadership
- Knowledge of technology delivery methodologies, including Agile and waterfall frameworks
