Job Title Law Clerk Salary $7,042 - $8,152 Responsibilities Applicants will work closely with a judge in the Oregon Supreme Court or Oregon Court of Appeals to assist in the full case‑resolution process. Typical activities include: Researching legal issues and drafting petition memoranda and draft opinions. Editing opinions, preparing bench memos, and performing final proofreading and cite checking prior to publication. Summarizing opinions, preparing media releases, and supporting communication with the court and community. Attending pre‑ and post‑argument conferences, oral argument filings, and occasionally participating in community outreach events such as tours of the Supreme Court building. Qualifications Juris Doctor degree (or equivalent) from an ABA‑accredited law school by the start of the clerkship. Strong writing, research, and critical‑thinking skills. Ability to communicate legal analysis clearly, respectfully, and with the capacity to revise viewpoints when necessary. Commitment to confidentiality and the highest standards of professional conduct. Benefits Salary of $7,042 to $8,152 per month. Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave. Health insurance and eligibility for the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System after six months. Bar dues reimbursement for members of the Oregon State Bar. Full‑time, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday with occasional after‑hours work; no overtime compensation. Remote work options, subject to court and judge approval.
