About the Position

Job Title: Interventional Technologist I Profession: Clinical Technicians Specialty: - Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40 Experience: 2 years of recent experience in Cath lab required License: ARRT(RT), RCES or RCIS certification required within 18 months of hire Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire Must-Have: Stepdown/PCU experience, Travel Experience, Level 1 Description: The Interventional Technologist I assists physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose, monitor, and treat simple to complex conditions, defects, and/or diseases without surgery. This position is intended for those who are gaining experience in Interventional Radiology or Invasive Cardiology or are experienced Imaging professionals who wish to begin a career in the discipline. Responsibilities include assisting providers in performing minimally invasive procedures such as cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, angiography, device implantation, biopsies, thrombectomy, embolization, and pain management. The technologist utilizes specialized radiologic equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic, interventional, and invasive procedures in accordance with established guidelines. Ensuring procedures are performed safely and maintaining high-quality standards while focusing on patient care is essential. The role involves preparing patients for procedures and providing comfort. Maintaining a strict sterile field and adhering to safety protocols is crucial. Responding to inquiries from patients and family members, providing clear information regarding diagnostic testing, and expected result timelines is required. Collaboration with team members across departments to provide exceptional patient care is expected. Post-testing quality reviews will confirm that all required elements are completed, documented, and align with accreditation standards. Transferring images and data to the appropriate electronic health system and preparing studies for reporting is part of the duties. Performing quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining equipment per regulatory guidelines is necessary. Assisting with quality assurance, audits, and performance improvement tasks is part of the role. Providing on-call clinical coverage outside regularly scheduled duty hours may be required. Engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program may be part of the responsibilities. Serving as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members is expected. Assisting with onboarding new team members and performing other duties as assigned will be required. Skills in applying principles of medical imaging, knowledge of anatomy and physiology associated with specialty procedures, and ability to maintain accurate records are essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Demonstrating knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and the ability to prioritize and complete work assignments is important. Candidates must possess the ability to multi-task and remain calm in stressful situations, as well as work as part of a diverse team. Sensitivity to patients' physical and psychological needs is critical.
